Ibiza in 48 Hours: Tips, Highlights and Hidden Gems for a Girls’ Getaway

After four years of everything revolving around the kids (and let’s be honest, it still does), I decided it was time for a girls’ getaway. No nappies, no mental load – just the chance to finish a sentence without interruption.

Ibiza has always held a special place in my heart. I’ve visited with friends and family before (I think this trip marked my 8th visit there), and with its short flight time from home, it felt like the perfect spot for a quick escape. Of course, you could stay longer, but I wasn’t quite ready to leave the boys for too many nights…

So, we booked it! A weekend to let my hair down, swap the hoodie and leggings combo, shower in peace and properly catch up with my best friend – for the first time in years.

Read on for my itinerary, top recommendations, and a few tried and tested tips on how to make 48 hours in Ibiza the perfect grown up getaway.

Day 1: Settling In and Soaking Up the Sun

Morning: Easy Arrival

We flew with Jet2 from Manchester on the 06:00 am flight. One bonus of travelling without kids? You can actually relax on the plane – in fact, we both slept the entire way!

For this trip, we packed light with just overhead bags which meant no waiting around at baggage claim once we landed. We’d pre booked our transfer and were pulling up to the hotel by 11 am – perfection.

We chose to stay at the Amàre Hotel Ibiza, which turned out to be the ideal base for our girls’ getaway – modern, stylish, right on the water and most importantly, adults only. You can read my full review of the beautiful Amàre Hotel Ibiza here. Trust me, you’ll want to check it out if you’re planning something similar.

We’d let the hotel know about our early arrival (always worth doing) and they kindly had our room ready. Welcome drink in hand, we were unpacked and getting ready for our first day out by 11:30 am – not a bad start to the trip!

Afternoon: Pool Parties and Cocktails

One of my absolute favourites for an adults-only Ibiza trip is O Beach. The music and atmosphere are unmatched – it’s the perfect place to let your hair down and soak up that carefree Ibiza energy.

We booked sun loungers in advance so we’d have a shady base, comfy seats and all day drinks service. You can check their drinks packages and pricing here. I’ll be honest – it’s not cheap, but Ibiza in general isn’t a budget destination. Was it worth it? Absolutely. In O Beach’s own words, “We didn’t invent the pool party, but we perfected it.”

A little tip: don’t skip the food! The Thai platter was incredible – fresh and perfect for sharing between cocktails and dancing.

Evening: Sunset and Dinner

That evening, we had dinner reservations at Kasbah, located along the famous sunset strip in San Antonio. We’d emailed ahead to request a table with a view and they delivered! The atmosphere was electric as everyone paused to watch the glowing sun melt into the sea – there’s just nothing quite like an Ibiza sunset.

The food and cocktails were fantastic too. You can have a peek at their vibe on Kasbah’s Instagram.

Now for the not so fun bit – getting there. We ended up walking for about 30 minutes (partly along the beach) through San Antonio because taxis were impossible to find. As a local explained, Ibiza has a “taxi crisis” – there’s a cap on the number of licensed drivers to keep business fair but that means long waits, especially around 4 – 6 pm and again from 10 pm – midnight.

There are some unofficial drivers – often Brits working the summer season – who share their numbers in Facebook groups or hand out their number locally. We’ve used them for years without issue, but do whatever you’re comfortable with.

After dinner, we wandered back along the sunset strip for drinks. We finished the night at Café del Mar with a couple of cocktails before calling it a day – the perfect end to our first day hours in Ibiza.

Day 2: Slower Vibes and a Day by the Sea

Morning: Rested at Last

Waking up after a full night’s sleep – well, from around 1 am until mid morning – felt glorious. Us mums don’t really switch off, even in our sleep, so it genuinely felt like the most restful night I’d had in years (despite the late bedtime and those extra cocktails!).

We enjoyed a long, leisurely breakfast at the hotel before heading to a meeting we’d arranged with one of the managers. My friend and I both work in travel, so we’d booked a full tour of the Amàre Hotel to learn more about its facilities, design and luxury touches that make a short break there feel truly indulgent. (Don’t forget, you can read my full review of the hotel here).

Before long, it was time to get ready again for our afternoon out in the sunshine.

Afternoon: Laid Back Luxury at Cala Bassa

Next up was Cala Bassa, home to one of Ibiza’s dreamiest beach clubs. We booked a Bali bed overlooking the sea – the perfect spot to slow the pace after the high energy fun of O Beach the day before.

We sipped on champagne sangria and enjoyed a delicious lunch (top tip: the lobster was incredible). The paella served at the table next to us looked equally tempting! The atmosphere was much more relaxed than O Beach – calmer dance music, chatter and a gentle sea breeze.

We visited on a Friday, and it was definitely chilled. I’ve heard it can get livelier on weekends or during special events, but for us, it was exactly what we needed – a chance to properly catch up and enjoy some grown up calm.

You can check out Cala Bassa Beach Club’s menu and prices here.

Evening: A Sunset to Remember

After a blissfully relaxed day, we headed to Sunset Ashram, perched above the stunning Cala Conta beach. As the sun began to set, hundreds of people gathered on the sand below to watch that golden Ibiza sun melt into the Mediterranean – an absolute must moment on the island.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner, a bottle of wine and the incredible atmosphere created by the live DJ as the sky turned pink and gold. You can explore their menu and see their resident DJs here.

A quick tip: make a reservation well in advance and don’t forget to confirm it when they email you the day before – we saw a couple get turned away for missing the confirmation!

After dinner, we took our drinks down to the beach and sat chatting under the moonlight – the perfect way to end our Ibiza escape.

The Morning After…

Our 10 am flight meant an early start, but we still managed to sneak in one last relaxed breakfast at the hotel before heading to the airport. Two days of sunshine, laughter, good food and uninterrupted conversation – exactly what every mum needs every once in a while.

Tips for a Successful 48 Hours in Ibiza

Book an Early Flight Out

I know early flights aren’t everyone’s favourite, but without the kids in tow, you can snooze on the plane and make the most of your time once you land. You’ll be sipping sangria by lunchtime – worth the bleary eyes at check in!

Stick to Hand Luggage Only

Travelling light saves precious time. No waiting around at baggage claim means you can head straight to the sunshine (and your first cocktail) as soon as you arrive.

Arrange Transfers in Advance

Pre book your transfers to and from the airport – it’s one less thing to think about once you land, especially if you’re arriving early.

Arriving Before Check In? Email Ahead

Most hotels have a 3 pm check in time. If you’re arriving earlier, email the reservations team beforehand to let them know – they might be able to prioritise your room. Even if they can’t, they’ll often store your luggage so you can start enjoying your day.

Plan (and Book) Before You Go

Ibiza gets busy, especially in summer. Reserve sunbeds at beach clubs, book dinner spots and buy any club tickets before you travel; it saves disappointment and gives you a loose plan without over scheduling your time.

Be Taxi-Savvy

The taxi situation in Ibiza can be tricky with long waits during peak hours. We planned ahead by wearing outfits that could easily transition from day to night – think ‘beach to bar’ chic. You’ll often go straight from a beach club to dinner without heading back to your hotel, so plan accordingly.

Choose Your Bag Wisely

A roomy, stylish bag is essential. Pack your evening bits – a lipstick, lightweight top, or accessories so you can freshen up on the go and transform from day to night!

Don’t Forget a Power Bank

You’ll be snapping photos, navigating and using maps all day, so keep a portable charger handy. With limited chances to pop back to the hotel, it’s a must.

Pack Electrolytes

Honestly, this was a game changer. I don’t really drink much anymore, but each night I had a green tea and an electrolyte before bed (tell me you’re in your 30s without telling me!). I’m convinced that’s why I woke up fresh each morning – even after the cocktails and late nights.

Let Go of the Guilt, Mamas

You deserve this. Time away doesn’t make you less of a mum – it makes you a more rested, happier one. A couple of days of sunshine, laughter, and adult conversation can recharge you far more than you realise.

Final Thoughts...

Two days away reminded me that Ibiza isn’t just for ‘twenty somethings’ – it’s for anyone who loves sunshine, music and good vibes. This island will always hold a special place in my heart; the energy and the sunsets just don’t compare to anywhere else.

I know I’ll keep coming back – whether it’s with friends, family, Ibiza has a way of recharging you and can offer an entirely different experience every time you go.

I’d honestly forgotten what it felt like to have no mental load for a couple of days – to pack a bag (that isn’t a rucksack) without snacks, wipes, or spare clothes, to get ready properly (mums, you’ll know what I mean), and to catch up with a friend without a time limit on our conversation. It felt like pressing pause on real life – a reminder of the carefree version of myself that still exists.

It was the weekend I never knew I needed and I hope every mum gets to do the same – even just for 48 hours.
