Ibiza is a place that will always be close to my heart. It’s an island that blends laid back beach vibes with vibrant energy and there really is something for everyone. Whether you’re travelling with friends, as a couple, or even – as it was for us this time – as a family, Ibiza continues to fill my cup.
Yes, luxury, family friendly resorts really do exist – and this one is proof!
We have discovered a five star, family friendly resort that ticked so many of our boxes. What made it even better was the ten minute transfer from the airport which made all the difference when travelling with a toddler. Less time in the car – more time straight into holiday mode.
Let me introduce you to Grand Palladium Ibiza Resort & Spa – and here’s exactly what we loved about it…
The resort is perfectly positioned right on Playa d’en Bossa beach giving you direct access to one of Ibiza’s most expansive stretches of sand with clear, turquoise waters.
My mum joined us on this trip which meant we were lucky enough to sneak off for a few drinks at some of the iconic beach bars along the beach while our toddler napped. We visited Beachouse, Ushuaïa and Nassau, all within easy walking distance and perfect for a bit of ‘us’ time for an hour or so!
The beachfront location was also a huge win during those early toddler mornings. If your little one wakes up at sunrise, (which ours did at the time!) there’s no better place to be – we headed straight down to the beach and watched the sun come up!
Three Pools (Including a Children’s Splash Park)
The resort has multiple pools including a dedicated children’s splash park.
A little tip from our stay: the splash park is shaded and was quite cold when we visited. While that might be perfect on a very hot day, we personally gravitated towards the larger pools and the beach instead. These pools had daily entertainment – including live saxophone players – which really add to the atmosphere.
There’s also a snack bar nearby to the children’s pool serving ice creams and sandwiches which is always handy with little ones in tow.
Nine Bars
With nine bars across the resort, there’s no shortage of places to stop for a drink – whether that’s a poolside cocktail or a visit to the sports bar if you fancy it.
Eight Restaurants (Including À La Carte Dining)
One of the highlights for us was the food!
The resort offers eight restaurants, including:
Two all inclusive buffets
Four à la carte restaurants serving Italian, Mexican and Mediterranean cuisine
Additional international restaurants with show cooking experiences and themed self-service areas
A specialty coffee corner (let’s face it – which parents need!)
The à la carte restaurants do need to be booked once you arrive and they were so worth it. While all inclusive buffets can sometimes feel repetitive, the restaurant options made it feel like we were heading out for dinner (without the faff) – a real treat with little ones.
Despite the fine dining feel, children were made to feel genuinely welcome, which makes all the difference when travelling as a family.
The entertainment programme here really impressed us! For us, this was the crown jewel of the resort…
From daytime performances around the pool to evening theatre productions, there’s always something happening. We watched The Lion King and it was honestly superb; the effort that had gone into the costumes and performances was incredible.
Each evening starts with a kids’ disco which is perfect to head to after dinner. Once that finishes, the more elaborate family shows begin making it easy to enjoy everything without late nights for little ones.
The rooms at Grand Palladium Ibiza are modern, recently renovated and incredibly spacious.
We’ve stayed at Ikos resorts before – also well known five star family resorts – and I was genuinely surprised by how much space we had here. Travelling with my mum, we were able to book adjoining rooms, which worked perfectly for us.
We stayed in a Deluxe Pool View room and were really impressed by the size and standard.
Every room features:
A balcony or terrace with garden or sea views
24 hour room service
Comfortable, modern interiors designed with families in mind
If you’re looking for a little downtime, the Zentropia Palladium Spa and Wellness offers:
A fully equipped gym
Whirlpool bathtubs
Sauna and steam rooms
For families, there’s also:
A Baby Club, Mini Club and Junior Club
A sports centre
The resort’s location makes it ideal for exploring beyond the hotel:
10 minutes from Ibiza Old Town – one of my favourite places on the island. Perfect for a wander day or night, dinner out and don’t miss heading up to the castle for stunning Mediterranean views.
Close to the Hard Rock Hotel – we visited the rooftop bar, and our toddler loved the music and watching the planes fly overhead as they landed every few minutes.
5 minutes from the Formentera ferry, making it ideal for a day trip to this beautiful neighbouring island.
Grand Palladium Ibiza truly delivers on luxury without compromising on family friendliness – something I thought impossible when we first became parents! From the moment you enter the hotel lobby, you will be wowed by just how grand this place is.
The location and food to the entertainment and spacious rooms, it’s a resort that makes travelling with children feel effortless and still special. They say it isn’t a holiday when you take your kids, but when staying here, it will still feel like one…
If Ibiza is on your list and you’re wondering whether it works as a family destination, this might just change your mind.
A final tip – At the time we visited, guests staying at the White Island Resort (on the same site – the sister hotel) could access the facilities of the Palace. This now has changed – to access the bigger pools, including the children’s splash pool, you must stay at the Palace. I think this is a fairer system – just don’t get caught out by it. Make sure to book the Grand Palladium Select Palace Ibiza to enjoy the best facilities on the resort.
